If miExcel has disappeared from Excel the first thing to do is to check and see if the add is just disabled. To do this follow the steps below:
1. Launch Excel
2. Click File -> Options
3. Click Add-ins
4. Check to see if miExcel is showing in the list of active add-ins. It should be showing twice. Once as an Excel Add-In and once as a COM Add-In.
5. If you don't see it in either place scroll down to the bottom of the list and check disabled add-ins
6. Depending on what is missing follow the steps below. Click Manage based on the item missing
a. Excel Add-In Missing - Click Manage Excel Add-ins - > Go. Check the box next to miExcel or adxloader miExcel and click OK
b. COM Add-In Missing - Click Manage COM Add-ins - > Go. Check the box next to miExcel or adxloader miExcel and click OK
c. Disabled - Click Manage Disabled Items - > Go. Check the box next to miExcel click OK. Then GO back into Excel -> Options Add-Ins and complete steps a and b above
7. If miExcel is missing all together from all of the menu items, then you just need to reinstall miExcel
a. If miExcel disappeared during an update, then follow the steps below to find the update and install
i. Open up File Explorer
ii. Type %temp% in the address bar and hit enter
iii. Sort by date and look for miExcelUpdateBootstraper.exe
iv. Double click the miExcelUpdateBootstraper.exe and click through the prompts
b. Re-install from your network. We typically store the miExcel install in your Caselle drive in a miExcel folder
TROUBLESHOOTING
- If the installer disappears very quickly after clicking install, it's likely your antivirus is blocking the install. Contact your IT to have them disable the antivirus prior to installing
- If the add-in only stays enabled for a single session and then is disabled again, you'll need to make a change in the registry. You should probably request your IT help you will this
- Launch regedit
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
- Navigate to Software | Microsoft | Office | Excel | Addins | miExcel.AddInModule
- Click on miExcel and LoadBehavior should appear on the right
- Right click LoadBehavior and choose Modify
- Change the Value Data to 3
- Close the registry
- miExcel is crashing
- Uninstall miExcel for Add/Remove Programs
- Open File Explorer
- Type %localappdata% and hit enter
- Look for a miExcel folder. If you find it. Delete it
- Reinstall miExcel
- I still can't get miExcel to show up. Manually add the addin
- Follow steps 1-6 above
